Scio—June 15, 2010—Nichelle Sisk of Baker City will be one of the nearly 100 seniors to toss their caps in the air at the Oregon Connections Academy (ORCA) graduation ceremony Saturday June 19th at the Salem Convention Center.
The 18-year old Nichelle was home schooled up until high school and then enrolled in ORCA four years ago. She is in the top five percent of her graduating class and very involved in church activities.

“Oregon Connections Academy gave me the opportunity to earn a high school diploma while still experiencing a home schooling atmosphere and freedoms,” said Nichelle. “Connections Academy also gave me the opportunity to have a job and work when other students could not.”
Mike McGeehon, a 12th Grade Academic Advisor at ORCA, said, “Nichelle is a perfect example of why this program is such a success. Her commitment to her education has been fantastic, her positive attitude has been infectious, and her focus on achievement is solid. I am very proud to have had her as a student.”
ORCA is the state’s largest tuition free online public charter school. Graduates will receive a diploma just like other schools in Oregon.
Nichelle will attend Northwest Nazarene University next fall with the goal of becoming a Children’s Pastor.
